Basketball Myopia.and how it hinders Philippine sports.

The NBA Finals have recently concluded and to no one's surprise, Golden State Warriors win again over the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0. Seriously, NBA is no longer that entertainning anymore and even long-time fans of the NBA are quitting the fandom altogether in favor of other sports such as hockey, football(soccer), and any other sports out there. Only retarded people and the Peenoise cares about this joke of a final, Even the free TV carrier of the NBA is showing those stupid tweets made by them whereas i see none in other sports coverages.

The Philippines is well-known for being a Basketball-crazy country but despite the passion and zeal of the Filipino baskeball fans, our country's basketball team, GIlas Pilipinas, gets routinely beaten all the time by other countries most especially by the Korean team, who prioritizes other sports such as Football(soccer)Baseball, and Esports. Sure we can always shout "puso" and "laban" on top of our lungs all we want but those things doesn't make a good basketball team.

I have read one of the articles on GetRealPhilippines written by FallenAngel about how Filipinos, when it comes to basketball, only focuses on the heart, or puso, not on the brains, or the analytical side, of basketball. It's because the Philippines is one of the most emotional people on the planet and that the false belief of "Pinoy Pride" would "inspire" them to be a "better" people where in fact would make them worse off than ever before. This is why there's such thing as sports science to begin with in the first place.

One of the important factors of the sorry state of Philippine sports is the lack of support from the Philippine government, and the reluctance of the Filipino to support the "elitist" sports of not-basketball. The common Filipino who weren't that much exposed to those kind of sports because of the lack of interest, would find those not-basketball sports "difficult" or "elitist" unless they know of it from those Hollywood movies or the occasional news reports about it.

Another factor for the sorry state of Philippine sports is the celebrity-centered society. I mean our celebrity-athletes have become senators like PBA legend Robert Jaworski and boxer-"basketball playing coach" Manny Pacquaio. Since the people here only focuses on those celebrity athletes, the teams that unfortunately don't have those kinds of athletes won't have the support of the Filipino unless they won gold at some international event like in the case of my country's ice hockey team.

In conclusion, unless we either diversify in terms of sporting interest and/or improve our sporting ability by investing on the analytical side of things. Philippine sports will and always will be a joke.

Why Teleseryes are worthy of being called world-class entertainment?

Teleseryes are, for a long time, part of the Philippine Culture and one of the most important cultural exports of the Philippines that help put it on the world map.The fantasy series such as Enchantadia, Mulawin, and Bagani are multi-billion dollar franchises with fans all across the globe and the actors, actresses, and love teams has the same brand recognition as any other Hollywood celebrity. not to mention, their covers If you're still skeptical, then I would give you a brief history of how Teleseryes came to be and why I consider them world-class entertainment.

It all started when the first radio soap opera, Gulong ng Palad, aired on the radio in 1949. When television came to the Philippines, The soap opera genre made their mark with Hiwaga sa Bahay na Bato(The Magic Stone House) produced by ABS-CBN in 1963, which was then followed by Prinsipe Amante(Prince Amante), Larawan ng Pag-Ibig(Picture of Love) and many more.

In the 80s, when ABS-CBN was still closed down, RPN-9 and GMA-7 were the leading two networks who battle it out for ratings supremact with RPN producing beloved classics such as Flordeluna starring Janice De Belen and GMA countering this with Anna Liza starring Janice de Belen's rival, Julie Vega.despite both child stars being friends offscreen. Anna Liza would be cancelled in 1985 due to Julie Vega's sudden death and as a result, had an unfinished storyline and a two-hour special aired to tie up loose ends aired a year later.

Once the EDSA Revolution ousted Marcos in 1986, ABS-CBN returned to the airwaves and regained its dominance it once had enjoyed by the end of the decade, By the 90's, however. The Philippines would experience one craze that would influence future Philippine soap operas to come, the Telenovela Craze, which began with the airing of Maria Mercedes on ABS-CBN and Marimar on RPN-9, and networks began to reschedule locally-made Telenovelas into the primetime slot to encourage more viewers to watch them and for advertisers to invest on it. at the same time, soap operas supplanted sitcoms (both in number of shows produced and in nationwide audience ratings) as the most dominant form of primetime entertainment in the Philippines

The 2000s saw the rise of the Asianovela, first with Taiwanese and Chinese dramas such as Meteor Garden then with the Korean dramas such as Dae Jang Geum, Boys over Flowers, Lovers In Paris and many other. with each craze, the soap opera industry learned from them and used it to improve the soap operas until now.

The soap opera genre here has come a long way and many quality dramas have been made by the networks through the likes of ABS-CBN's Ang Probinsyano and GMA's Alyas Robin Hood, which, contray to popular belief, is not a ripp-off of CW's Arrow. It's high production value, cinematography, and fresh storylines keep people glued to their seats and made the Philippines a number two exporter of TV series after the United States. Philippine Soap Operas have a bright future ahead as new and original soaps are being made and aired by the networks and exported and loved the world over.

P.S.: This is just my April Fool's post for April Fool's Day and please don't take this seriously, it's just for fun and I actually consider my country's TV series as thrash.
